3PL Dynamics WMS

Solutions

Boltrics Industry Standard. dicobis Implementation. Live in 3 Months at a Fixed Price.

Boltrics 3PL Dynamics is the WMS industry standard for logistics providers — productive at several hundred 3PLs worldwide, listed as a Notable Vendor in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for WMS Europe, built on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. Goods receipt, storage, picking, shipping, value-added logistics, and client billing run in one system on one data foundation. dicobis brings this standard preconfigured into your operations — with a defined fixed price and productive start after three months, because we develop nothing new that Boltrics has already solved.

From Goods Receipt to Client Billing — as One Transaction

Boltrics 3PL Dynamics WMS maps the entire warehouse process as a continuous industry standard. Every posted movement automatically generates the billable service, the SLA evidence, and the document for client billing. Client-specific special processes are configured per customer — not coded. That is the Boltrics philosophy of “develop nothing, adopt”: you adopt what hundreds of 3PLs have already optimized.

Scan Goods Receipt — Including Lot/Batch and Quality Check
Advance shipping notices (ASN) are created via EDI, Excel, or directly in the client’s Customer Portal. At the dock, receiving runs via RF scanner: pick up the pallet, capture lot, batch, expiry date, and serial number, reconcile against the ASN. Quality inspection per client, item, or vendor is built in as a standard workflow — blocked storage, reject, and rework apply automatically. Receiving simultaneously generates the billable goods-in service.
Assign Bins Dynamically (Pick-by-Light, Zones, ABC)
Putaway strategies are built into the standard: ABC/XYZ classes, pick-face replenishment, zone restrictions (frozen, dangerous goods, high-value), expiry date logic. Boltrics 3PL Dynamics proposes the bin; the scanner guides the worker straight there. Every movement is immediately inventory-effective — the next pick sees the new position without an overnight batch run.
Control Picking — Waves, Routes, Multi-Order
Pick waves are formed by shipping cutoff, carrier pickup time, and route. Pick strategies (single-order, multi-order, zone, pick-and-pass) are parameterizable in the standard per client and item. The scanner guides through the optimal route, FEFO/FIFO applies automatically, out-of-stock alerts go immediately to dispatch and client. Every picked line is a billable movement.
Value Added Logistics — Co-Packing, Labeling, Kitting
VAL orders such as display building, kitting, relabeling, or assembly run in the same document and scanning structures as picking. Client-specific bills of materials and work steps are preconfigured. Every VAL activity automatically generates the service record — quantity, time, or flat rate — and flows into the client invoice without anyone maintaining an Excel sheet.
Shipping & Carrier Handover via DataHub
Shipping label, tracking number, customs documents, and carrier manifest are generated at the packing scan. Carrier selection is rule-based (client, weight, country, service level, cost). Boltrics DataHub handles handover to DHL, DPD, GLS, UPS, Hermes, nShift, Sendcloud, and over 500 more endpoints. Shipment status flows back into the document — Customer Portal and service staff see the same state.

Stable at Peak, Transparent for Your Clients

Boltrics 3PL Dynamics is the WMS standard of several hundred logistics providers worldwide — what you get has already been hardened in the operations of hundreds of warehouses. dicobis brings this standard to Germany and into your operations. What you really need operationally is included in the standard scope, not in a roadmap.

Cycle Counting Instead of Year-End Physical Inventory
Rolling counts instead of annual inventory: frequencies are set ABC/XYZ-based per item or zone; automatic triggers initiate recounts on stock discrepancies or high movement. Warehouse staff count directly at the scanner; discrepancies are documented with photo and reason. Audit-compliant logging (German GoBD standards) is built in. Operations keep running, and the auditor gets the evidence.
Quality Control per Client, Lot, and Phase
QC steps are built in as standard workflows — at goods receipt, before picking, before shipping, or as random sampling. Inspection plans are parameterized per client, item, or lot (dimensions, weight, visual inspection, sample size). Blocked storage, reject, and rework apply automatically; the result is visible in the Customer Portal — the client sees the QC rate in real time, not in a monthly report.
Cross-Docking — Goods Receipt Straight to Goods-Out
Cross-dock orders are announced in the system before goods receipt: as soon as the goods are scanned, the scanner directs straight to the shipping dock instead of a storage bin. Splitting into storage and cross-dock portions is possible. Both movements — inbound and outbound — are chained in one inventory posting. Client billing receives inbound, cross-dock handling, and carrier handover as separate services.
500+ Prebuilt EDI Integrations via Boltrics DataHub
DataHub is the central integration layer: over 500 prebuilt connectors to carriers (DHL, DPD, GLS, UPS, Hermes, nShift, Sendcloud, DeliveryMatch), marketplaces (Shopify, Amazon, WooCommerce), client ERPs (SAP and others), and customs systems. EDIFACT, VDA, IDOC, REST, and SOAP are supported natively. New client interfaces are configured and mapped — not developed. Every connection is centrally monitored, versioned, and equipped with error replay.
Customer Portal With Dock Time Slot Booking
Clients and their suppliers log in and see inventory at lot and batch level, goods-in/goods-out history, open orders, KPIs, and QC rates. Hauliers book delivery time slots at the dock themselves and see free slots and blocked times. Goods-in backlogs, status calls, and email ping-pong to your service desk disappear — your staff solves problems instead of looking up statuses.

FAQ

How do you seriously achieve productive operations in 3 months at a fixed price?
Because we don’t start in an empty Business Central. dicobis delivers a preconfigured Boltrics 3PL Dynamics tenant — WMS processes, roles, warehouse structures, pick strategies, and client templates are operational from day 1. In the workshops, we configure together with your key users instead of developing. That works because Boltrics, as the industry standard, has already embedded the WMS knowledge of several hundred logistics providers into the platform. The fixed price follows from this clear scope: adapt the standard, customize only where you differentiate in the market. More on the approach on our methodology page.
Do we have to replace our current WMS — or does it run in parallel?
Boltrics 3PL Dynamics WMS is itself a fully fledged WMS and replaces your existing system. Parallel operation at warehouse level doesn’t make sense — inventory, postings, and labels must come from one source. In the assessment session, we look specifically at which functions of your current WMS are covered and how the replacement can be cleanly cut site by site or client by client, without halting operations.
How do you map individual clients’ special processes — without custom development?
Boltrics 3PL Dynamics is modular and fully configurable per client: dedicated master data, tariffs, labels, pick strategies, VAL processes, reports, and EDI mappings. Anything the standard doesn’t cover in the user interface is solved through customer-specific configuration, not code. That is the Boltrics philosophy of “develop nothing, adopt” — and at the same time the core of our dicobis methodology: adapt the standard, customize only where it is the client’s true USP. This drastically shortens implementation and release effort.
Which carrier and client interfaces are available?
Boltrics DataHub comes with over 500 prebuilt integrations — carriers (DHL, DPD, GLS, UPS, Hermes, nShift, Sendcloud, DeliveryMatch, and more), marketplaces and stores (Shopify, Amazon, WooCommerce), client ERPs (SAP and others), and customs systems. EDIFACT, VDA, IDOC, REST, and SOAP are supported natively; document capture for PDF/email inbound is also standard. Every interface is centrally monitored, versioned, and documented in the DataHub. What you specifically need is something we clarify in the assessment session.
How does inventory counting work without halting operations?
Through cycle counting from the Boltrics standard: instead of a cut-off-date inventory, stock is counted on a rolling basis — typically ABC/XYZ-based, with defined count frequencies per item class and automatic triggers on movement or discrepancy anomalies. Warehouse staff count directly at the scanner; the result is immediately in the system and logged in an audit-compliant way. Operations keep running throughout.
What does a realistic migration path look like in concrete terms?
dicobis works to a fixed phase model: contracting, phasing in (gap/fit analysis), ramp-up (delivery of the preconfigured tenant), project phase (configuration, data migration in structured cuts, key-user training), phasing out (project freeze, end-to-end tests, cut-over plan), go-live, and hypercare. Master data (items, warehouses, clients, tariffs) is migrated via structured templates; transaction data at cut-over. Cut-over is controlled — site by site or client by client, never big bang. In the hypercare phase, dicobis stays close for four to six weeks before operations transition into regular support.
Why dicobis and not another Boltrics reseller?
dicobis is a Microsoft Solutions Partner for Business Applications and knows the Business Central foundation as deeply as the Boltrics layer on top. We bring two things together: preconfigured Boltrics 3PL Dynamics tenants that take you productive in 3 months at a fixed price — and ERP consulting depth for everything beyond pure WMS (consolidation of financial entities, multi-entity structures, the dicobis methodology with data quality gate, mirror team, and hypercare as a project phase, not a service). You get the industry standard without losing the Business Central substructure.
How large is the installed base behind Boltrics 3PL Dynamics?
Boltrics 3PL Dynamics is in productive use at several hundred logistics providers worldwide — from mid-sized fulfillment sites to global 3PLs — and is listed as a Notable Vendor in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for WMS Europe. dicobis brings this standard to Germany and into your operations, handling implementation, methodology, and support on the Microsoft Business Central foundation.
