Your Role Center, Your Tiles

dicobis.canvas adds a freely configurable tile area to the standard role centers of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. Every user builds their own start page: KPIs with filters, traffic light logic with thresholds, dynamic periods and action tiles for new documents. No development, no partner ticket. One click on a tile opens the linked page with the stored filter.

From Empty Area to Finished Start Page

Business Central ships cues from the standard. Anything beyond that used to require an AL extension. dicobis.canvas closes this gap in the role center: every tile is created in the user interface, every setting is visible to the user, and everyone works with the KPIs of their role.

Create the Tile and Choose a Size
Add a new tile to the tile area, give it a title and choose one of three sizes: standard, wide or large.
Link a Page or a Field
The tile shows the number of records on a page, for example sales orders or customer ledger entries, or the value of a table field. The target page is selected via object search.
Set Filter and Period
A filter narrows the KPI down, for example status open or a specific location. Dynamic periods such as This Week or Last 30 Days are recalculated every time the role center opens.
Define Thresholds
Two thresholds determine when the KPI switches to warning or critical. The setting applies per tile or per filter line.
Arrange the Layout and Get to Work
Arrange, edit or delete tiles via drag and drop. Every user has their own layout. One click on a tile opens the page with the filter applied or creates the new document.

KPIs for Every Role, Without a Project

Teams in retail, e-commerce and logistics want to see their daily numbers in the ERP, not in Excel or in dashboards nobody opens. dicobis.canvas runs in six standard Business Central role centers. Every role maintains its own tiles, and the key user sets up templates without AL code.

Sales: Order Processor and Sales & Relationship Manager
Open sales orders, orders this week, quotes from the last 30 days. An action tile creates the next sales order.
Purchasing: Purchasing Agent
Open purchase orders with a threshold, purchase orders this month. An action tile creates the next purchase order.
Finance: Accountant and Business Manager
Customer ledger entries by filter, documents from yesterday, KPIs from table fields. With traffic light logic so that month end holds no surprises.
Warehouse: Warehouse Basic
Open warehouse documents, receipts this week, items filtered by location. Every employee sees their numbers when the role center opens.
Own Layout per User, Templates from the Key User
Every user arranges their own tiles. The key user sets up templates, without AL code and without a partner ticket. New KPIs are created in minutes in the user interface.

FAQ

Business Central already has cues in the role center. What does dicobis.canvas do differently?
Standard cues are hard coded. Which page, which filter and which position is decided by the developer of the respective app. Every change is an AL extension. dicobis.canvas moves that decision to the user: page or field, filter, period, thresholds and size are set in the user interface and take effect immediately.
Which tile types are available?
KPI tiles show the number of records on a page with a filter or the value of a table field, with traffic light logic based on two thresholds. Action tiles create a new document with one click, for example a sales order or a purchase order, and open it immediately. Both types come in the sizes standard, wide and large.
Which role centers does dicobis.canvas run in?
In six standard Business Central role centers: Accountant, Business Manager, Order Processor, Purchasing Agent, Sales & Relationship Manager and Warehouse Basic. Business Central Online from version 28 is required.
Do we need developers to set up tiles?
No. Tiles are created in the user interface: enter a title, choose a page or field, set filter and period, define thresholds, save. The key user sets up templates without AL code, and every user adjusts their layout via drag and drop.
Are tiles per user or for the whole team?
Every user has their own layout and arranges their tiles themselves. Templates for a role are set up by the key user, without AL code. New employees start with the KPIs of their role and adapt the area themselves afterwards.
How does the rollout work?
dicobis.canvas is installed as an app in your Business Central Online environment from version 28. We then capture the KPI needs per role, set up the first tiles and templates together with your key users and hand over. From then on the teams maintain their tiles themselves. Effort and licensing model are clarified in the demo session.
